Edithburgh

Regally perched on the cliffs of Yorke Peninsula is Edithburgh, a popular tourist and fishing town. Originally a major salt provider to Australia due to its proximity to 200 salt lakes, Edithburgh is the unofficial fishing and scuba diving headquarters of South Australia.

Many ocean enthusiasts flock to explore the magical world that lies just beneath the surface of the surrounding waters. Dive off the Edithburgh jetty and swim between the rainbow-coloured underwater cities of corals and marine life that can be found on its pylons. Be astounded by the mixture of species thriving in a world of their own, including leafy sea dragons, big-bellied seahorses and Port Jackson sharks (not dangerous to humans). Grab your fishing gear and take a walk down the Edithburgh Mosaic trail on your way to Sultana Point. Local artist Trudie Howith has added beautiful nautical-themed mosaics to rocks along the walking trail. Once you get to Sultana Point you will be rewarded with an excellent location to fish for mullet, yellowfin and many other fish species.

The Edithburgh Tidal Pool provides a great option for those wanting to refresh in the sea water. With each daily rising and falling of the ocean, the pool is filled with clean water - great for kids wanting to splash in the shallow end.
